Logan Respiratory Clinic
We’ve set up a dedicated Respiratory Clinic (Fever Clinic) especially for our mob to provide patient assessment and COVID-19 testing.
Who are we testing?
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families who:
- have symptoms of COVID-19 including fever, cough, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, shortness of breath or cold and flu symptoms AND/OR
- were present at the locations at the relevant times of current confirmed COVID-19 cases. Click here for the current Queensland Health alerts.
How do I make an appointment?
Please phone 3029 6527 to book an appointment.
Where is the clinic?
5 Charles Avenue
Logan Central QLD 4114
What happens when I arrive at the clinic?
- The Respiratory Clinic will look different to our regular clinics. This is to keep everyone safe and reduce the chance of infection.
- Let the receptionist know you have arrived. They might ask you some questions.
- A nurse or doctor will call you into the clinic for your consultation. They will be wearing a mask, gloves, eye protection and possibly a medical gown.
- They will ask you about your symptoms and medical history and then examine you and take the swab test for COVID-19. The swab test takes a sample from your throat and your nose. It may be uncomfortable but doesn’t take long.
- The nurse or doctor will give you advice on how you will get your results, what to do at home in terms of self-isolation and then show you the way out of the clinic.
How and when will I get my results?
- If you have a mobile phone, the lab will send you a text message with your result.
- If you don’t have a mobile phone, we will call your landline with your result.
- If you haven’t heard from anyone about your result after three days call our Respiratory Clinic.
If your result is positive for COVID-19:
- We will contact you directly, let you know what to expect and check in to see if you or your family need any assistance.
- The Public Health Unit will contact you.
What to do while I’m waiting for my results?
- If you are tested for COVID-19 but aren’t very sick or showing symptoms, you may be sent home to self-isolate while you wait for the test results. This may take several days.
- If you are really sick you may be admitted to hospital for treatment. If you become sicker while you are waiting for results, please contact your doctor or call an ambulance. Make sure you let them know you are waiting for test results for COVID-19.
What does self-isolating mean?
Self-isolation means staying home and doing everything you can to prevent spreading any infection to other people in your household.
This means:
- Not going to work, school, shopping, or any other activity outside the house.
- Not visiting friends or family.
- Avoid touching or having close contact with people in your household.
- If possible, use a separate bathroom and prepare meals separately.
- Don’t prepare food for others in your household and avoid sharing plates, cups and bowls.
- Use a mask if you are close to other people in your household.
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Make sure to cover your coughs or sneezes with a tissue/elbow, put tissues straight into a closed bin and wash hands for at least 20 seconds afterwards.
- Ask a friend or family member to pick up groceries or other essential items for you and leave them in a safe space at your home. Let us know if you don’t have these supports, and we’ll make sure you have the assistance you need.
