Dealing with youth justice can be hard… That’s where we can help.

Our new Youth Justice program is here to help you and your family every step of the way when dealing with youth justice matters.

If you live in the Brisbane and Logan regions our new Youth Justice service is here to help our mob.

How does our Youth Justice service work?

Our service works with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families who have had contact with police, court or the youth justice system.

This may include young people who:

  • have been cautioned by police
  • are attending diversionary restorative justice processes
  • have early signs of offending behaviours or have siblings of known offenders
  • are living in custody or transitioning from custody.

We help young people (primarily aged 10-14 years) and their families to find solutions to overcome challenges, particularly those related to coming into contact with police or taking risky offending behaviours.

We work to get your entire family around the table when the Department of Youth Justice meets with a young person. We aim to create a support plan based on the young person and the family’s concerns by using an established framework called the Family Led Decision Making (FLDM) process.

How do I access the service?

You will need to contact your Youth Justice worker.

Is there a cost?

No. This service is free.
