Hepatitis Queensland commissions CLO’s artwork

Congratulations to our very own artist and Northgate clinic community liaison officer Joe. He was commissioned by Hepatitis Queensland to create a piece of art that would also raise awareness for Hepatitis B. Joe rose to the challenge, creating a beautiful piece which highlights the significance of liver health. The artwork also creates an opportunity to educate community around Hepatitis B. What a fantastic and important piece and we’re very proud of Joe’s efforts.

​​​​​​​Hepatitis B

Small circles, lines and crosshatching represent songlines/storylines. They remind community to attend their nearest Aboriginal Medical Service/Health Service to discuss liver health and Hepatitis B. The footprints also depict travelling to and from these services.

The larger circles represent Aboriginal medical services/health service providers. Around these circles, the symbols for male and female represent both community members and staff that work at these services.

Also, the crosshatched symbols sitting in the circles educating people about liver health and Hepatitis B are Hepatitis Queensland staff.

 In the centre of the painting is also the Hep B family tree which is a visual tool used in Hep B education. Each branch reminds us to B: 

Sitting around the tree are males and females aged 15 – 25 years of age – the main groups at risk.
