Jajumbora CFC receives $5000 grant

Our Jajumbora Children and Family Centre has been awarded a $5000 grant from the Queensland Government’s Celebrating Reconciliation Grants Program. This generous funding will support a Reconciliation Week event at the CFC on 12 June, aimed at fostering community connection and cultural understanding.

The Community Canvas event will bring together the local community to explore Indigenous art, storytelling, and symbolism. The Jajumbora CFC team will guide participants in learning about the significance of these cultural elements and how they reflect the history and identity of Indigenous communities.

“We are incredibly grateful for this grant, which allows us to celebrate reconciliation in a meaningful way,” said CFC Acting Manager Selina.

“Through the Community Canvas event, we aim to strengthen our relationships with local schools and community organisations and share our knowledge and culture with others. Together we will create a shared artwork that represents the spirit of Waterford West.”

Schools and kindergartens that regularly collaborate with the CFC will participate in the event. Together, they will contribute to a collective artwork that embodies the stories, symbols, and values of the Waterford West community. This initiative not only promotes cultural education but also strengthens the bonds between community members.
