Meet Our New GPs:
Dr. Anne
What inspired you to become a doctor? I was drawn to medicine by a deep desire to help people and make a meaningful difference in their lives. The ability to build long-term relationships with patients and support them through different stages of life was a major inspiration for me.
What motivated you to undertake your GP training with ATSICHS? I was motivated by the opportunity to work in a culturally safe and community-focused environment, providing holistic care to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients. ATSICHS’ commitment to improving health outcomes and delivering comprehensive care aligns with my passion for general practice and preventive medicine.
What do you hope to bring to the community? I hope to provide compassionate, patient-centered care and build trusting relationships within the community. I’m especially interested in preventive health, chronic disease management, and skin cancer medicine, and I aim to support patients in achieving their best possible health outcomes.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone considering a career in medicine? Medicine is a challenging but incredibly rewarding journey. Stay curious, be open to learning from every experience, and remember that the best doctors listen just as much as they diagnose.
Dr. Adelene
What inspired you to become a doctor? I loved science subjects in school, learning about the human body and always wanted a career that helped others.
What motivated you to undertake your GP training with ATSICHS? My interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, plus ATSICHS’s reputation for providing great learning experiences and excellent teaching for GP registrars.
What do you hope to bring to the community? Clinical experience with sick neonates and children, helping families navigate a challenging healthcare system.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone considering a career in medicine? There will be challenges, embrace not knowing it all and learning new things
Dr. Mukul
What inspired you to become a doctor? I was drawn to the idea that, through a transcendental therapeutic relationship, one could support the health and wellbeing of entire families in a uniquely profound way. This level of impact is difficult to match in most other professions. Knowing I could play a part in bringing hope, healing, and unity to people’s lives inspired me to pursue medicine wholeheartedly.
What motivated you to undertake your GP training with ATSICHS? I chose ATSICHS because I believe true health care honors culture and community. This training allows me to learn from resilient voices while offering my skills where they’re needed most.
What do you hope to bring to the community? I hope to bring an open heart, a listening ear, and the best medical knowledge and expertise I can provide—always guided by respect for tradition and a commitment to empowering good health.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone considering a career in medicine? Remember that medicine isn’t just about treating a disease. There’s a difference between treating a disease and treating the illness. A disease is a clinical diagnosis, but an illness is the human experience that accompanies it. Always look beyond the symptoms to understand the person’s life, values, and circumstances. True healing happens when you recognise and respect the whole story behind every patient. Stay curious, stay humble, keep learning, and always lead with empathy.
Dr. Cedric

What do you hope to bring to the community? I will strive to be a doctor that will try my best to advocate for my patients.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone considering a career in medicine? It can be a lot of studying and it can hard at times, but it definitely has a lot of rewarding moments too.
Dr. Paul

What do you hope to bring to the community? I hope to bring a willingness to listen to my patients and to have a reciprocal dialogue where we are both learning from each other.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone considering a career in medicine? It’s a career without shortcuts so be prepared to do the hard yards to get to your ultimate goal.
