AHW named finalist in top industry awards

Congratulations to our very own Sawee! He is a top 3 finalist for a Queensland Training Award 2020 through Skills for Queensland.

Across 14 categories, the awards recognise individuals and organisations that strive for and have achieved success. They acknowledge best practice and also innovation in vocational education and training (VET).

Shortlisted as a finalist from 700 nominees is a fantastic effort from Sawee. He was also nominated as Vocational Student of the Year – Region: South East.

Initially contested are eleven award categories across seven regional areas. These include, Tropical North Queensland, North Queensland, Central Queensland, Darling Downs South West, North Coast, Metropolitan and South East.

Last year Sawee completed a Certificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander primary health care. He is currently putting his deadly skills into practice at our Loganlea clinic as an Aboriginal Health Worker for mob.

Our traineeship program is popular among young mob who want to get a foot in the door. We work with mob, for mob.

Our Aboriginal Health Workers assist clients by helping to explain procedures and treatments as well as contributing to effective management of patient care. They also assist with communication between doctors and other health professionals.
