We aim to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to make healthy choices for themselves and their families – to stop smoking, to eat good food and exercise daily.
Deadly Choices (DC) also encourages Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to access their local Community Controlled Health Service and complete an annual ‘Health Check’.
The teams also provides many programs throughout schools and community groups which include the healthy lifestyle, tobacco Cessation, DC Fit, Junior Traditional Games and Good Quick Tukka programs. Our target age range is students and community members that are in Years prep to 12 focusing in on prevention through education and awareness rather than treatment.
DC are actively engaged in many regional and local community events across south east Queensland promoting ‘a healthy choice is a Deadly Choice’.
If you would like one of our Deadly Choices officers to come out and run programs at your school please get in touch by using the number above.
