Say hello to Youth Case Manager Malachi
This Youth Week, we sat down with one of our deadly Youth Case Managers, proud Kaanju/Birri man Malachi to find out more about why he loves his job and supporting our youth to be the best they can.
Who is your mob and where are you from?
I’m a proud Kaanju/Birri man. I grew up in Cairns before moving to Sydney. After that, I moved to Brisbane when I was 16 and have been living here since.
What is your role at ATSICHS Brisbane?
I am a Youth Case Manager out of the Woolloongabba clinic.
What inspired you to start work in your sector?
I am inspired by the people that were around me when I was young. They put me in the best position to succeed and my goal is to achieve the same thing with our young people today.
What are your hopes for young people in the future?
I hope that our young people realise that they are the most important part of our peoples progression. They are the future!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?
I get to see how bad our young people want to succeed every day. I see them kick goal after goal and work tirelessly to do so. Its both inspiring and rewarding at the same time.
Are there any young mob out there (online or in person) who inspire you?
My clients inspire me. They persevere through every obstacle and bounce back with no excuses.
Hobbies outside of work?
My hobbies include playing rugby league, going to the gym and hanging out with friends.
