CFC welcomes new manager Letischa
Letischa is our new manager and heads up the Jajumbora Child and Family Centre (CFC). She has a passion for spreading the importance and value of early education for our jarjums.
Tell us a little more about yourself?
I’m a proud Wakka Wakka and Kabi Kabi woman with strong connection to the Cherbourg community. I always knew that I wanted to work with little people, and I spent 9 years before this working at Yelangi Preschool. After that, I moved over to the child protection space and took up a role with the Indigenous Family and Child Support Service (IFACSS).
What prompted you to work here?
I love supporting our community and families. I live and breathe advocating for our people when they have no voice, and working for a community controlled organisation like ATSICHS gives me the ability to do more for our community than ever.
Tell us more about your role?
I’m the manager of the Jajumbora Child and Family Centre. We work hard to provide a community space with a range of services, working with our families to support community and families with anything they may need. During COVID we weren’t able to run the CFC to its full potential due to lockdowns and restrictions. So 2022 is set to be our best year yet. We’re hiring for lots of new roles at the centre which will increase the amount of services we are able to offer to our clients. We’re keen to see the centre full of mums, dads, bubs and jarjums again.
What’s the most rewarding part of your role?
Being able to work directly with community, working alongside our people for our people.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
Definitely being able to support parents and families and provide a community space for them. I love when the centre is full of people coming in for a yarn or to take part in our workshops, playgroups or classes. It’s also been really great to see how popular those classes and workshops have been and to get great feedback from community.
