BMX star has Olympic dream in sight
14 year old Yuggera woman Holyee-Ann has her sights set on an Olympic gold medal and with a Young, Black and Proud scholarship win under her belt she’s one step closer to making that a reality.
Holyee-Ann has been racing BMX since she was three years old. The news that the sport will be one of those featured in the 2032 Olympic Games here in Brisbane was music to her ears.
She ranks 9th in the world in her age category and will represent Australia in the 2023 BMX World Titles in Scotland.
‘I am so proud of everything I have accomplished so far and I am so excited that BMX will be in the 2032 Olympics,’ Holyee-Ann said.
Holyee-Ann is no stranger to the podium, taking home gold medals in the 13 years girls category and placing first overall in the BMX State Series. She also took home gold in back to back dual Queensland titles in the 13 years girls 20″ class and the 11-13 years girls cruiser class.
‘Last year I competed in the BMX South Queensland Shootout Series and rode in the 13 years boys class. That’s eight rounds, eight different clubs in south east Queensland all competing against boys. I won the series, taking out the number one position in that class,’ she said.
This year she has been invited to speak at the launch of the Green and Gold Athletes program and at the 2023 Championing Women in Sport Luncheon alongside Bo De La Cruz, Hani Watson and Veronica White.
Holyee-Ann plans to use her funds to help her parents pay for her upcoming competitions including the BMX grand titles in Tulsa, USA this November and the Australian titles in October.
