Father-Daughter Duo Shines at DC Touch Carnival
The Deadly Choices Touch Carnival was packed with action and community spirit and one of the standout moments was seeing father-daughter duo Josh and Lila take the field together for ATSICHS Brisbane.
Josh, who played in similar carnivals as a teenager, said playing alongside his daughter was something special:
“It was really deadly to be back out here, this time alongside my daughter. Lila’s 12s team ended up being all boys, and the opens team needed an extra girl, so it worked out perfectly that we could play together. Seeing her out there doing the same thing I once did was a proud moment.”

Events like the Deadly Choices Touch Carnival are about more than sport, they bring mob together, celebrate culture, and showcase the strength of our community.
Josh said sharing the experience with Lila made it even better:
“Between us, Lila’s definitely the more competitive one, but that makes it even better because her energy keeps me going. The best part is just being side by side, having fun, and making memories together.”
Lila, one of last year’s Young Black and Proud Scholarship recipients in the sports category, said the scholarship gave her a big boost:
“Getting the Young Black and Proud Scholarship meant a lot. It made me feel proud of who I am and motivated me to keep doing my best in sport and school.”
For Josh, seeing his daughter recognised for her hard work was a proud moment, one that reminded him why these experiences matter most.
It was deadly to see this father-daughter duo hit the field and witness all the talent from across the teams who played.
