Teddy Bears Picnic

Why not invite your jarjums and their favourite soft toy along to a teddy bear picnic or tea party? You can host it in your living room, backyard or local park (if you’re not currently isolating). Choose a theme based on your jarjum’s favourite toy, movie or book and get creative with the snacks and decorations.

Just Dance!

Do you have a little dancing king or queen in your house? Keep them occupied by challenging them to a dance off on the most exclusive dance floor there is – your living room floor. Head to just dance – YouTube for a bunch of different dance tutorial videos. All you have to do is follow the animations on screen. If the competitive streak doesn’t run in your family why not encourage your jarjums to learn a dance and put on a performance for the rest of the family at a later date?

Virtual Zoo Visit

Do your jarjums often wonder what the animals at the zoo get up to when the gates are closed? The clever zoo keepers at Taronga Park Zoo are all over it and have set up Taronga TV so you and your little ones can keep an eye on the animals 24/7. You can also meet the zoo keepers, learn how to train flight birds and watch a Tassie devil get his very own 715 health check!

Make Your Own Playdough

Always a crowd pleaser, playdough is great for your little one’s hand strength and fine motor skills. It’s also a wonderful way to encourage active imaginations and keep them occupied for hours. The recipe is easy to make at home. All you need is:

  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 4 tablespoons cream of tartar
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • food colouring

Just mix it all together! The mixture will be hot so parental supervision is a must.
