Meet our IT Admin Ashleigh
Ashleigh has connections with islands of the Torres Strait, South Sea, Papua New Guinea and also China. She has been working with ATSICHS Brisbane since August 2023.
Tell us a bit about yourself
I like reading and painting although I haven’t painted in a while. I watch Formula One a little obsessively and keep up with ice hockey. My Mum is Chinese from Papua New Guinea and the Islands. I also have two older sisters and three nieces and one nephew. I am working hard to save up for a tattoo. I like to listen to music wherever I go and whatever genre.
Can you tell us more about your time here at ATSICHS Brisbane?
Starting at ATSICHS Brisbane has introduced me to a lot of firsts like first office job, first full-time job and first time working in IT. Because of this there was a lot of things I had to get used to and I was lucky enough to be welcomed into the team easily, and they didn’t overwhelm me with new information and were welcoming to my constant questions. I enjoy working here as there are so many lovely people as well.
Why did you decide to work here?
I applied on a whim, looking at jobs that I was willing to learn from and develop, and having no background in IT previously, this was a major leap for me.
What’s your favorite sport and team?
Formula One and my favorite team is Redbull.
Ice hockey and my favorite team is Vancouver Canucks & Pittsburgh Penguins.
What are three things you enjoy doing outside of work?
- Reading
- Painting/drawing
- Watching Formula One and ice hockey
