Meet Marketing and Communications Administrator Danielle
Danielle has worked with ATSICHS Brisbane in a number of different roles. She is social media savvy, with her creativity shining bright in her current role as Marketing and Communications Administrator.
Could you please share a little about yourself?
My name is Danielle Ahmat. I’m a proud Yugul-mangi woman from Southeast Arnhem Land along the banks of the Roper Gulf, a Jarwoyn woman from the Katherine region and a Wagadangem decent from the Mabiug Island in the Torres Straits. My line also runs deep into the Ngarrindjeri tribe of South Australia.
Tell us about your journey with ATSICHS Brisbane so far.
I started off as a transport driver, I wanted to get my foot into ATSICHS as I enjoy working with and for mob. I then had the opportunity to take on a 5-month contract as the Woolloongabba Community Liaison Officer. Once my contract ended, I wanted to try something new. That’s when I applied for the Marketing and Communications Administrator role.
Why did you choose to work for ATSICHS Brisbane?
When my family and I first arrived from Darwin 2 years ago, there was a point where I started to feel home sick. I felt that working with my people and for my people would make me feel a little more at home. And it has.
What are you enjoying most about your role?
That every day is different. In this role, I have a supportive team and they appreciate what I bring to the table. I also love that I’m learning more about the people of this country and the different tribes, artwork and artist that tell the stories of the land through their art.
What are your interests and hobbies outside of work?
Fishing, camping and hunting with my friends and family. Playing softball and love watching the AFL and NRL.
If you were an animal, which animal would you be and why?
I would be a bird, flights are too expensive these days.
What is your most unique talent?
Adapting to a situation I have no control over but still having the strength to keeping pushing through.
