Young rugby league star shining in QMC
Self-confessed ‘main guy’ on our under 14s DC ATSICHS Murri Carnival team, hooker Tamarley Mooney is keen to get a few tries in at this year’s Queensland Murri Carnival.
It’s his first carnival and he’s excited to get out on the field and show the crowd his skills.
“I play hooker, which means I get to touch the ball pretty much every play. I’m like the main guy in the play”, Tamarley said.
“It’s my job to catch the ball from the scrum and get it out wide to try and get a break.”
Despite being only 12 years old, young Tamarley is already showing his talent for the sport. He’s been impressing officials and spectators with his skills at his year’s carnival.
“He’s quick on his feet and he’s got fantastic ball control. Which is what you need from a hooker”, said his coach, Ray Nagas.
Tamarley is already keen to bring his skills back to the field next year as well.
“My favourite part of the carnival is hanging out with my friends and family. And getting out on the field to play. It’s been a lot of fun and I’m definitely coming back next year”, he said.
Our under 14s team won against Murri United 18 – 14 and was narrowly defeated by 2 points in their match against the Logan City Hawks.
